Three persons of Nepalese origin have been killed in violent clashes in Meghalaya, Monday.
Reports say, seventy-year-old Dhanpati Bastola and two other Nepalese folks, who were not identified immediately, were killed in clashes that followed the clashes between Nepalese and local Khasi community. All three died after assault from the local Khasi community, according to TR Joshi, of Meghalaya Gorkha Welfare Centre.
Situation in Langapi, in the border of Assam and Meghalaya states of India, has become tense since Sunday over the dispute between the two ethnic groups. Although, the dispute was prevalent since many years, it has taken a violent turn in the recent days.
Seven persons of the Khasi community had been killed in police action to control a dispute between the Nepalese and the Khasi community Sunday evening.
Following the incident, the Khasi community had ordered people of the Nepalese origin to leave the village within 24 hours
