Miss Nepal is conservation ambassador

KATHMANDU: World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Nepal today appointed Miss Nepal 2010 — Sadichha Shrestha the fifth Young Conservation Ambassador amid a function in the Capital today.

“I am very pleased to welcome Sadichha as ambassador,” said Anil Manandhar, country representative of WWF, Nepal. “I would also like to acknowledge the contribution of Miss Nepal 2009 — Zenisha Moktan — in raising awareness about the Year of the Tiger campaign.”

Sadichha will be involved in promoting conservation issues, especially among the youth. “She will be involved in WWF’s The Generation Green campaign where she will work with students and Eco Clubs of various schools to raise awareness about conservation and develop youth projects focusing on environment and species conservation,” said WWF.

WWF Nepal has appointed each year’s Miss Nepal beauty pageant winner the Young Conservation Ambassador since 2004. Since then, Payal Shakya, Sugarika KC, Sitashma Chand and Zenisha Moktan have already contributed as ambassadors.
